Surprisingly, the screen is not very bright, but we’ll talk about that soon. With these specs and the 240Hz refresh rate, the picture is clear and smooth as butter. The UltraGear 27GR95QE-B has a 27-inch OLED display with a resolution of 2,560 x 1440 and a 16:9 aspect ratio. The good antiglare treatment doesn’t help with the feeling of dimness, and the more matte finish makes it seem like there’s less contrast, even though OLED has almost infinite contrast. Because most of us work on full-white screens, it seems so dark because of this.
At that point, it seems to go down to about 150 nits at most. However, its low resolution for its size (3,4401,440 pixels) means that it’s not great for a lot of general uses, even though its dimensions are good for work.īasically, in SDR, the screen can reach around 200 nits for any screen coverage except full screen. It has the same specs as the 27-inch model and some of the same problems. The 45GR95QE-B, which costs $1,700, is the curved 45-inch brother of the 27-inch UltraGear OLED.
There are some things that Quantum Dot OLED, which is used in monitors like the Alienware 34 QD-OLED, does a little better. LG does a good job with gaming, but it doesn’t do a great job with everything else the monitor needs to do when you’re not playing. But because monitors are used for so many different tasks, OLED’s strengths can sometimes become weaknesses, and some of the technology’s weaknesses, like brightness, need to be fixed.
